This procedure explains how a customer can send a secure message.

Using the Secure Messaging Portal

These instructions are abbreviated for our use. You can see the full user manual right here → https://community.mimecast.com/docs/DOC-1182

  1. Navigate to https://login.mimecast.com/u/login/?gta=secure#/login
If customer is not a U.S. based customer or if this URL is not working for the customer for any reason then please go here to determine what link they should be using (based off their region). https://community.mimecast.com/docs/DOC-1134#jive_content_id_North_America_Region
  2. Login with their Mimecast creds
  3. Click Compose, compose your message and click the Send button

  4. After hitting the Send button, the user should receive the following options:

    OptionDescription
Request Read ReceiptA notification email is sent to you when the recipient has opened your secure message.
Restricted - No Print, No ReplyThe secure message is delivered, but the recipient is unable to reply to it, or print it.
Restricted - No PrintThe secure message is delivered, but the recipient is unable to print it.
    Expire Message in 1 / 7 / 30 Days

The secure message expires after the specified time scale. Once expired, you cannot respond to the message. Other actions (e.g. print, delete) are available.

  5. The recipient will receive 2 emails, named "Secure Messaging Password Notification" and "Secure Messaging Notification"

    1. "Secure Messaging Password Notification" will include a link that the recipient can click on to access their Mimecast portal, as well as a first-time, temporary password.

      1. When they visit the link and login, they will be required to create a new password before accessing their Secure Messaging Portal

      2. The recipient will only receive this email once

    2. "Secure Messaging Notification" will include a link that the recipient can click on to access their Secure Messaging Portal. This is the normal email that they will receive whenever they receive a secure message via Mimecast.

  6. After the user logs in they will be able to access the email and reply to it freely.
