A typical organization spends approximately 3 dollars in operational expense for every dollar spent on PC hardware acquisition.

Evolve IP DaaS frees businesses from the endless cycle of purchasing, supporting, upgrading and ultimately replacing local PCs by providing a untethered “virtual” work space that can be accessed from anywhere, at any time, on a variety of devices and for a predictable monthly fee. By leveraging desktop virtualization from VMware, IT managers are freed from the need to “touch” each desktop to fix problems and deliver new applications, saving staff time and keeping employees productive.

We are one of five certified VMWare Horizon powered Desktop Badge service providers in the US. Evolve IP DaaS is also built on EMC XtremIO which is one of the fastest available Solid-State Arrays.

DaaS Technical Overview and Customer Awareness

Group Administration

All of Evolve IP’s DaaS technologies are designed to help reduce the day-to-day burden of infrastructure management from the customer’s IT staff. In order to do this, it’s very important that our customers understand what we do, and what they are required to do.

Active Directory Planning and Management

Evolved Office: Desktop service requires a Server Bundle that provides security to the customer’s Virtual Private Cloud and acts as an Active Directory Server for Evolved Office Desktops. There are two ways that this Active Directory can be provisioned.

Standalone AD – The AD server operates on its own and will govern authentication and security for customer’s DaaS desktops

Integrated AD – The AD server acts as a site of customer’s existing AD infrastructure.  A secure connection, such as Site to Site VPN, MPLS Connection to Evolve IP, or Cloud Connect is required to operate in this fashion.

Group Administration

Once you have migrated your environment to Evolve IP, we require the help of a local Group Administrator, who is responsible for providing support and direction to end users, supporting local devices, and management of your important line-of-business applications.

Evolve IP is responsible for the following:

1. Datacenter Infrastructure and Reliability

2. Virtual infrastructure platform, up-time, upgrades, accessibility and security.

3. Network connectivity of platform and core routing.

Customer responsibilities are as follows:

1. Group Administration – overall management of client technology needs.

2. Local Device Support – management of PC hardware.

3. End User Support – troubleshooting printer issues, print server performance, file permissions.

4. Line of Business Applications – installing specific software packages

Evolve IP will not troubleshoot customer workstation, printers, servers or applications. It’s critical that executives AND IT staff understand their roles and responsibilities. The Evolve IP SOW can be reviewed in detail here: http://www.evolveip.net/paperwork/sow.pdf

Applications

Every business uses a unique set of applications to perform its day-to-day functions. With the Evolved Office: Desktop, you are not limited to a predefined list of applications or versions. There are several ways that you can upgrade your desktops to include the applications you need or already own.

Preinstalled Applications – Your Evolved Office: Desktop comes preinstalled with a standard set of applications and plug-ins including: MS Internet Explorer, Trend Antivirus, Adobe Reader and Flash Player, Java ,QuickTime, Firefox

Evolved Office: Applications – If you choose, Evolve IP can provide and preinstall a number of desktop applications from Microsoft, including: MS Office, Visio, and Project.

Your Applications – If you have existing investments in Microsoft applications or other applications, you may install these directly to your Evolved Office: Desktops.

Server Applications – If you have applications that require a server, you can add additional vServers / VDC  to your Virtual Private Cloud to house these applications.

Just as with your desktops, Evolve IP can provide you with server applications from Microsoft including: Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, and SQL. For Exchange, you can purchase Exchange as a per-user Service or on its own server (providing you full control and direct integration to your Active Directory).

For any other server applications you require, you’ll be provided administrator access to the vServers on which you’ll install these applications. It’s important to note that while Evolve IP technicians are in a position to assist in server availability, networking and connectivity, they cannot provide application support for your line-of-business applications. Evolve IP does provide Server Management products that can assist in the monitoring of application services, should this level of support be required.
