Internet Explorer 11 is end-of-life. Er is geen ondersteuning meer door Microsoft en bedrijven schakelen over naar modernere browsers zoals Edge of Chrome. Een aantal OCC applicaties is echter nog steeds afhankelijk van IE. De browser ondersteuning verschilt per OCC applicatie. Hierbij een overzicht.

Deze applicaties vereisen géén IE11:

Touchpoint, call center client (Edge, Chrome ondersteund)
Historical reports (Edge ondersteund)

Voor Web Administrator (beheer tool), Cosmocorder (toegang tot recordings) en Dashboard (real-time rapportages) biedt Enghouse, de leverancier van het OCC call center platform (genaamd CCSP), onderstaande tijdelijke oplossing.

Background

A number of CCSP's user applications, including Web Administrator, Dashboard, and CosmoCorder, have been designed and developed to leverage ActiveX controls, available in the Internet Explorer (IE) browser. With IE reaching an end-of-support state from Microsoft, along with lack of native ActiveX support in newer browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, there is a need to determine a mechanism and approach to support these existing applications on the newer browsers.

Note that the CSSP product team is actively working on newer versions of its applications to eliminate these ActiveX restrictions. However, until the newer version are available (in future releases of the CCSP project), the following configurations have been tested to enable customers to use specific supported browsers. These configurations provide ActiveX controls and other emulated IE capabilities to satisfy CCSP application requirements.

Setup of Supported Browser Configurations

For the Microsoft Edge browser, activation of "IE mode" is required. This configuration option is described at the following Microsoft Support site: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-ie-mode

For the Google Chrome Browser, a purchasable add-on/extenstion for Chrome is required, IE Tab, enabling emulation of IE and ActiveX controls in Chrome. Structurele oplossingen:

Voor Web Administrator is een alternatieve applicatie beschikbaar, genaamd Provisioning Portal. Deze applicatie wordt ondersteund door Edge en Chrome. Evolve IP zorgt dat Provisioning Portal Q3 2021 beschikbaar is voor klanten.
Het alternatief voor Cosmocorder is: Agent Evaluation Module. Hoewel deze module bedoeld is voor het evalueren van gesprekken aan de hand van score cards, biedt de interface minstens alle functies van Cosmocorder voor toegang tot voice recordings. Agent Evaluation draait in Edge en Chrome. Opmerking: alleen voice recordings zijn in Agent Evaluation beschikbaar; chat en e-mail niet.
Voor Dashboard is vooralsnog geen structurele oplossing bekendgemaakt door Enghouse.

Conclusie:

Alle OCC applicaties draaien in
- Microsoft Edge, al dan niet in IE-mode
- Google Chrome, al dan niet met de IE Tab browser plugin
Klanten kunnen IE 11 uit het IT landschap verwijderen, zonder impact op de werking van de call center applicaties.
