Summary

If you specified to backup the entire machine, you are able to restore the entire machine to new hardware. This is often referred to as a bare metal restore. You can restore to the same, or different hardware. Prior to the restore you need to create recovery media, which you will use to boot the machine to initiate the bare metal restore. During this process, you can import drivers if you are restoring to a machine with different hardware. You may need to install the drivers for network and RAID or hard disk drives to complete the restore.

Prerequisites
  • Create recovery media and connect it to the hardware you will be restoring to.
  • The connection information provided by EvolveIP for access to your data. If you do not have this, please contact EvolveIP Support.
  • The machine must have network connectivity in order to download the restored data from EvolveIP.
  • Any additional drivers you may need to add during the restore, such as network or hard disk.
  • If you are completing the Bare Metal Recovery on a virtual machine, you may need to use the ALT key through some steps depending on if it recognizes your mouse input.
Bare Metal Restore
  1. Boot your machine from the Recovery Media.
  2. Choose the Bare Metal Recovery option.
  3. Select Network Storage and click Next.
    1. You should see a message pop up that your system is not connected to a network.
    2. Click Load Network Adapter Driver
      1. Click Install driver... under the Network adapters section.
        1. This will utilize the drivers built into the recovery media that were captured when created.
        2. If the driver was not captured during the creation of the recovery media.
          1. Click Load Driver and follow the prompts to install the driver from a .inf file that can be accessed via USB/CD/DVD drive.
      2. Click OK once the driver is loaded.
    3. Select the Ethernet adapter and click Properties.
      1. Enter your IP information and click OK and then click OK on the Network Settings page
  4. At the Network Storage step choose Veeam Cloud Connect Repository and select Next.
  5. Enter the URL provided by EvolveIP and select Next.
  6. Enter the Username and Password provided by EvolveIP and select Next.
  7. Select the machine backup you want to use and click Next.
  8. Select the restore point you want to restore from and click Next.
  9. Select the restore mode you want to use and click Next.
    1. You can click View automatically detected disk mappings to make any manual disk map changes.
  10. Review the Summary and click Restore.
  11. Once complete click Finish and then OK to reboot the machine.
    1. Make sure to remove the recovery media before rebooting the machine.
  12. The system should now boot into the selected restore point.
